Cadbury World!

In some of our school holidays, we like to travel outside of the city, like last half term when we visited the Forest of Dean, or summer at Sutton Park, or Malvern. In other holidays, we like to remember that there are a lot of brilliant things to see and do right here in Birmingham. We think Cadbury World is one of those!

With the exciting tour of the history of chocolate, starting in the Aztec Empire. John Cadbury and his sons explaining their journey to their giant chocolate factory – particularly when the room shakes to show us what happens to the cocao beans!

Then there’s the chocolate mixing demonstration, the Cadabra Ride, the 4D cinema and the giant playground! The free chocolate went down quite well too…

Thank you everybody for a lovely day out. If you enjoyed that trip and want to put your name down for the next trip in the Easter holidays, or you didn’t go and think you would like to join the next one. Contact us HERE.

Wicked in Birmingham

In April this year, the west end theatre show ‘Wicked’, will be at the Hippodrome, Birmingham. Wicked is a musical, with an alternative take on the book and film, The Wizard of Oz.

Reach Out has a limited number of tickets available, for the evening showing on Wednesday 04th April. We are offering these tickets for free, to adult users of the Reach Out project. If you would like to be in with a chance of winning a ticket, you just need to fill in a short questionnaire, about activities you’ve taken part in with us. You can get a questionnaire by coming into school and asking at the front office, or you can contact us and request one by email.

The deadline for returning questionnaires is Friday 2nd February. When all of the questionnaires are in, we will draw 34 names at random. These 30 will receive one ticket each. Please be aware these tickets are for adults only – no children or toddlers will be admitted to the theatre.

What’s On 2018

Happy New Year from Reach Out!

We’re very excited for this coming term, with new classes and new activities on offer. We’re keeping all of our old favourites too, but we’re changing things around a little bit so please do check the timetable!

We’re very excited to be introducing two brand new classes!

  • First we have Ladies Fitness Class – Which will be replacing Zumba, on Wednesdays at 2pm – 3pm.

Zumba has been brilliant, but for the new year we want to change things up a bit. Ladies fitness will have less dance, more work out! With lots of different ways to get fit and have fun!
If you have small children, please feel free to bring them along. If they’re not walking yet, we have a lovely big pay pen and toys to keep them occupied. If they’re up and walking, why not let them join in!

This is our first time of trying a photography class here in school. We have a very experienced photographer coming in to teach us the basics of Photography, including how to take great pictures with what you have – be it a small camera, a more professional camera or even just your smart phone!

We’re also continuing with Basic ESOL, Life in the UK, Driving Theory Class, Arts & Crafts and will be continuing with Baking and Swimming later on in the school year.

  • By request, we will be having one off courses in First Aid and Self Defence, later this term.

  • As always, in addition to our classes and clubs we offer volunteering opportunities, help with job applications/job searches, help with CV’s or any other issues we can. Please come and talk to us, whether you are a parent at our school or just a member of the Nechells community, we’re here to help.

  • And finally, we are of course continuing with our school holiday activities and trips for 2018. For the upcoming February half term we will be taking a trip to Cadbury World here in Birmingham, as well as having two activity days here at St Vincent’s. Get in touch if you would like to take part!

2017 was a fantastic first year for us, but we want 2018 to be bigger and better. Reach Out is a two year project, so we want to make it count!

If you have any requests for classes or activities you would like us to run, please let us know. If it can be done, we will do our best!
