St Vincent’s School
St Vincent’s is a small primary school in the south of Nechells Ward. We have been working on opening our school to the local community, to use our facilities to the greatest possible extent and to generally provide a central organisation point for our parents, families and residents of the Nechells and wider community.
We have weekly adult education classes, fitness sessions and workshops, holiday activities for families, day trips and more!
We have volunteering opportunities to suit all needs, if you want to get involved please visit our volunteers page and get in touch!
The Reach Out Project
The Reach Out Project is a two year initiative funded by the National Lottery, to engage as many local people in their local Nechells community as possible. The project is run by and for the community. If there’s something you would like to do or learn, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
St Vincent’s school began running community projects, from ESOL classes to family holiday activities. These worked well, but in fact the best ideas we’ve had have come from those taking part, rather than for us! We have met ready and willing volunteers, organisers and participants. We have the resources to reach more people beyond our school. We have the ability to play a greater role in our community.
The Reach Out Project includes adult education classes, workshops for education and recreation, work and higher education advice drop in sessions, holiday activities, family day trips and more, based here at St Vincent’s school.
We will also be offering extensive volunteering opportunities, including our Good Neighbour initiative.
Our Projects Aims are:
To promote healthy lifestyles
To help people into higher education, volunteering experience and work
To help lessen isolation as a result of language barriers or other issues
To offer new experiences to children and adults of all ages
